Map Rap

Foreword: What’s poppin’ guys? My creative writing this week is a rap. Which is technically poetry. So…. check it.

This my map rap, ain’t got no cap cap. listen up im bout to tell you all about that- stuff we do in class. Learn about the maps. Turchi kinda slaps. Now lemme backtrack

Im-balance of power, searching serfdom in my browser, losing land by the hour, Europe was a superpower.

Capitalist landowner, legal obligations, debts, agriculture, tenancy, rent, infrastructure.

Oppressors’ legalize, native’s persecution, you say it seems legit, nah bro it’s illusion. Affluence. Versus segregation. I’ve got some reservations, we need some reparations.

Colonizers are enabled, cultured lands are mislabeled, serve injustice with a ladle, kinda feeling like it’s racial-

Prejudice that blinds, countries from conviction. Debating jurisdiction, say land claims are fiction

Harley lays down truth, calling out maps’ flaws, but maps can hold beauty… for instance because

Rose gardens, experience, adventurers, Mark Twain

Moby Dick, consumer goods, collectibles, *again*-

This my map rap, ain’t got no cap cap. listen up I just told you all about that- stuff we do in class. Learn about the maps. Turchi kinda slaps. Just call me Big Shaq.

Word. *mic drop*

Hi Lydia! I loved your Map Rap and think it is one of the most creative pieces of writing I have had the privilege of reading. I really liked how you not only incorporated some of the readings we’ve talked about throughout the semester but also some of the class’s experiences like the trip to the Rose Garden.
